Read on to learn more about the adventures you can have in Te Anau and how a spa and sauna is the perfect way to top off a magical day.Te Anau is the perfect place to base yourself to explore Milford SoundImagine spending your day hiking and exploring one of the eighth wonders of the world, Milford Sound. Lose yourself in some of the world’s most vivid wilderness where cliffs rise from dark inky waters, mountains disappear into the clouds and waterfalls plunge from great heights. Choose from several tracks or do the whole 53.5 kilometres over four days.Kepler TrackAnother great option is Kepler Track, a 61.2-kilometre loop trail. For the adventurous type, you can complete this hike in about four days. The track will take you along beautiful ridge lines with epic views of mountains, lakes, and wilderness. It’s literally like your walking on top of the world.For most of us, a 61.2-kilometre hike seems a little beyond our limits. Luckily, the track is broken up into sections so you can choose tracks based on your fitness level.Routeburn TrackFor the ultimate alpine adventure set off along the Routeburn Track. This track is 31 kilometres long winding through snow-capped mountains, glistening lakes, deep valleys, and past the turquoise blue waters of Routeburn River. Soak in stunning views over Mt Tutuko as you climb towards the highest peak, a whopping 1,255 metres above sea level. This hike can be completed in about three days with the option of doing several smaller tracks instead.Te Anau Lakefront TrackTake an easy walk alongside Lake Te Anau. Gaze out over this stunning lake as you walk towards Te Anau township. This half an hour walk follows the lakeshore past the main shopping centre and the boat harbour at Bluegum Point. For a longer walk, continue for a three-hour return trip to Upukerora River. Take in beautiful scenery of Murchison Mountains and Fiordland National Park.Lake to Lake Track – Te Anau to ManapouriFor from one gorgeous lake to another, walk from Lake Te Anau to Lake Manapouri. This is a 28-kilometre walk and just like the other tracks, there are many beautiful sights to see. Start your walk at the Department of Conservation visitor centre and head towards Waiau River until you reach the control gates to the Fiordland National Park.Plan aheadNo matter what trail you intend on exploring, make sure you plan ahead of time. Some tracks require you to make a booking with the Department of Conservation in advance, and some require bookings for accommodation. Be mindful of seasonal restrictions when booking your trip. Finally, know your limits and make sure you have all the right gear.Finish your day rightAfter a day exploring the Fiordland National Park and Lake Te Anau, you’ll no doubt be feeling sore and tired from an adventurous day. Book your private spa session ahead of time to avoid disappointment. Available for guests only, it costs $30 for two people for a 45-minute session and $10 per additional person. The sauna is complimentary for guests and available for a 30-minute session.To ensure the safety of our guests, we take hygiene very seriously. The spa is emptied at the end of every day. It is thoroughly cleaned and refilled the following day ready for the first session. In between each session, we scrub the spa and top up the water when needed.
